Abstract
The detection of signals in noise with possibly asymmetric probability density functions is considered. The noise density model allows a symmetric contaminated-nominal central part and an arbitrary tail behavior. For detection of known signals the robust likelihood-ratio (LR)-type detector is obtained, based on detector efficacy as performance criterion. The robust M-detector structure for constant-signal detection is also explicity obtained.
