Abstract
Dyes bound to wide band gap metal oxide semiconductor nanoparticles such as TiO2 or ZnO are of great interest for the development of dye-sensitized solar cells. We designed homoleptic, symmetric, "star-shaped" ruthenium complexes as a way to insulate the dye from the heterogeneity and complexity of such nanoparticle surfaces and inhibit recombination. Their synthesis and properties, in solution, bound and in solar cells will be discussed in the presentation.
