Abstract
The various issues involved with copyrigth protection are discussed. Sometimes copyright protection restricts people in preserving intellectual properties. Some examples of legal wars over copyrigth and patents in photography are presented. One observation was that photography thrived in Paris without legal protection, while it was on the legal ropes in London in 1850. Government's compulsory license procedures for patents allow owner to permit others to use the intellectual property for a fixed fee.
