Abstract

The solvothermal technique was used for the synthesis of Cs2PdSe16 and the crystal structure was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction methods. Cs2PdSe16 crystallizes in the tetragonal, space group P4b2 with a=1. 260 1(2) nm, b=1. 260 1(2) nm, c=0. 704 4(1) nm, V=1. 118 5(3) nm3, Z= 2, R=0. 051 4, wR=Q. 099 1. The crystal structure consists of two dimensional layers of alternate layers of [CsPd(Se4)2]- and [CsSe8]+. DSC result indicates its decomposition temperature at 334 °C.
