Abstract
(LiCl)2-Ga2O3-SiO2 xerogels were prepared by a sol-gel process. Similar to that of the corresponding lithium aluminosilicate xerogels, the ionic conductivity of lithium gallosilicate xerogels increases with increasing Ga2O3/SiO2 ratio for samples with the same lithium content (25 mol% (LiCl)2) due to the increasing concentration of mobile lithium ions associated with tetrahedral GaO4 or non-bridging oxygens in the xerogel. The conductivity increases with increasing (LiCl)2 content for samples with a Ga2O3/SiO2 ratio of 1 2 due to the combined effect of increasing preexponential factor and decreasing activation energy.
