Surgical procedures carried out in the groin and contiguous areas in the female patient are mostly for the purpose of hernia repairs and for the diagnosis and management of lymphadenopathy. Surgeons, as consultants, should be cognizant of the wide range of clinical conditions which, though uncommon or even extremely rare, may be encountered in the course of their practice. The purpose of this communication is to report three illustrative cases, and to describe the embryology and anatomy of the round ligament and to discuss the pathology, differential diagnosis and management of conditions occurring in the vicinity of the round ligament.
