Abstract

Measurements of forward-angle cross sections for double charge exchange on O16, Si28, and Ca40 at 164 MeV incident pion energy suggest an A-43 dependence for the cross section. This A dependence is shown to provide evidence for components in the nuclear wave function. NUCLEAR REACTIONS O16(+,-), Si28(+,-), Ca40(+,-); E=164 MeV; measured (5°), and mass excesses for S28 and Ti40, found A-43 dependence for cross section.
