Abstract
The paper describes general and specific examples of the use of chemical additives to effect the rheological properties of mineral slurries both in laboratory testing, and in the field. In addition to the discussion of slurry viscosity control, the cost effectiveness of additive use in each case is discussed. The examples presented include drilling muds, phosphate rock slurry, limestone slurry and coal slurry. (from paper)
