Abstract
This article proposes an etymology for the common Sabaic word brá 'place', namely, via derivation from the nominalised prepositional phrase br 'place', with two phonological shifts at play: (a) elision of the intervocalic glottal stop, and (b) metathesis of /t / and /r/.
