The surface thickness of liquid argon near the critical point

Abstract

The surface tension between liquid argon and its vapor is related to the width of the interfacial region. Through a comparison between the calculated and the experimental values of the surface tension, a theoretical estimate of the interfacial width L along the saturation curve from 95-140 K is made. The coefficient ν in the empirical expression L α (TC T) has the value 0.65 in agreement with earlier determinations on other substances.
