Abstract
The incorporation of tris(1-pyrazolyl)borates (Tp) into well-defined polymeric structures that can be used as scaffolds for new metallopolymers with new optical, electronic, and magnetic properties, was presented. The Tp-functionalized polymers are found to bind to metal complexes that exhibit good stability towards air and moisture and redox activity. The molecular weight of the Tp polymer is slightly higher than that of the particular silylated precursor polymer, while its relatively high glass transition temperature is found to be due to the presence of moieties. The results also show that even at 75% loading, smooth functionalization occurs, despite the gradual precipitation of the product polymer from the reaction mixture. The successful preparation of new metallopolymer demonstrates the synthetic utility of Tp polymers and extension to other catalytically active metal complexes.
