Abstract

An overview of business skills of Thomas Edison is presented. By the age of 12, Thomas Edison had started selling newspapers and candy on the Grand Trunk Railroad. His work in the telegraph industry contributed greatly to his entrepreneurial success in other industries later in his life. Edison's sophisticated understanding of the patent system emerged out of his experience as a contract inventor in the telegraph industry.
