Abstract

The application of the variational method of dual assessments to the solution of various problems occurring in chemical technology is discussed. Assessments of the mean reagent concentration in porous or dispersed media, of the efficiency factor of a porous catalyst grain, and of the effective diffusion coefficient have been used to demonstrate the possibilities of this method and to give a general scheme of its use.
