Variation of dihydrofolate reductase activity in mammalian cells in vitro

Abstract

Dihydrofolate reductase activity has been shown to fluctuate during the growth cycle of mammalian cells in suspension culture. Neither cycloheximide nor methotrexate abolished the fluctuation in activity which thus appears to occur independently of enzyme synthesis and degradation.
