Abstract

The vortex/oblique shock wave interaction (VOSWI) at the Mach numbers 3 and 5 is analyzed on a basis of the numerical computations in a framework of the 3-D nonstationary Euler equations. A possibility of the vortex breakdown control by the use of steady and periodic pulsed energy deposition is demonstrated in the cases of weak, moderate and strong regimes of VOSWI. Influence of the energy sources of spherical and ellipsoidal geometry, their dimensions and location on the vortex axis as well as the energy deposition power and frequency is considered. The specific details of the realized flowfield structures are analyzed. The correlations for the plateau pressure level in the vortex breakdown zones and the near-wall boundary layer separation regions are considered.
