Work with undocumented immigrants: When serious illness intersects with no insurance

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

The Rutgers FOCUS Wellness Center (FOCUS) is a primary care clinic located in Newark, New Jersey. Funded in January 2012, and opened officially that March, this nurse-led program is a grant-funded interprofessional collaboration of the schools of nursing, social work, and pharmacy. Each discipline uses the site for student instruction, with an emphasis on collaborative care. In New Jersey, nurse practitioners are authorized to write prescriptions and they run FOCUS. Physicians are not on site, but as with any of the other consultants, they are available by phone.
